Only a few years ago, dining out and living an alcohol-free life proved challenging. Regardless of where you are in the world, the UK, Spain, or elsewhere, avoiding alcohol when dining out usually meant that you had to go for a Coke, or a water. And when you’re sitting around a table of other people who are drinking, it can very much make you feel like the odd one out!
Choosing not to drink alcohol, for whatever reason, should never mean having to compromise on the quality or enjoyment of your drinks. And at The Carvery, it doesn’t have to.
A Serious Alcohol-Free Menu
Nowadays, more and more people are choosing alcohol-free options when dining out, whether that’s for health reasons, personal preference, designated driving, pregnancy or religion.
As a team, we take pride in listening to our guests’ suggestions, and we responded to the demand for alcohol-free drinks by putting together a proper selection of good quality alcohol-free drinks, rather than just a small token offering. The brands we stock are the same premium names our guests would expect to find in the normal alcoholic range – Heineken, Tanqueray, Guinness – not just the cheap substitutes!
Our goal at The Carvery is for every guest at the table to feel equally looked after, regardless of what they’re drinking.
Alcohol-Free Beer
It wasn’t long ago that asking for an alcohol-free beer in a restaurant meant settling for something that didn’t taste all that great. But that’s changed significantly, and the two options we stock at The Carvery are a really good example of how far things have come.
Heineken 0.0 is light, crisp and refreshing, and it’s actually brewed from scratch, which makes a real difference to the taste. Cold, easy-drinking and satisfying with a plate from the carvery.
Guinness 0.0 is an icon when it comes to enjoying a carvery dinner. The team in Dublin spent four years developing it, using the same ingredients as the original, resulting in the same dark colour, creamy head and hints of chocolate and coffee. It’s also suitable for vegans.
Alcohol-Free Spirits
A lot of alcohol-free spirits can end up tasting like flavoured water, but Tanqueray 0.0 is different. Rather than simply adding flavourings to a base liquid, Tanqueray uses the same botanicals as the original, resulting in a spirit that tastes as close as the real thing as possible. Serve it as you usually would – with ice and a slice!
Alcohol-Free Wine
For a long time, alcohol-free wine was the weakest link in the no and low alcohol drinks category. However, the Natureo range from Torres has changed the game, and it’s why we’re proud to stock their wines at The Carvery.
We stock three varieties:
Garnacha: a full-bodied red with ripe berry fruit and a warm, rounded finish. It pairs beautifully with the roast meats and it’s the perfect choice for anyone who would usually opt for a red with their roast.
Muscat: light, aromatic and gently sweet with floral notes and a fresh finish. It works well as an aperitif, or alongside lighter starters like our prawn cocktail or chicken liver pâté.
Chardonnay: crisp and clean with subtle fruit and good balance. It’s a versatile choice that pairs well with our fish and chips, chicken dishes, or anyone who prefers a white.
Mocktails
For those who want something a bit more fun, our soft drinks and mocktail menu is every bit as enjoyable as their alcoholic counterparts and are made with care by our team.
Our current mocktail options are popular with younger guests, with designated drivers, and with anyone who simply wants something a little more interesting than a Coke! We regularly change the cocktail and mocktail menu, so be sure to ask your server about it when you visit us.
Something for Everyone
Nowadays, alcohol-free dining is no longer about what you’re missing out on – it’s about what you’re choosing. The options we have here at The Carvery means that nobody has to sit around the table and feel left out, no matter their reason for not drinking.
Whether you’re driving back along the Costa del Sol after dinner, taking a break from alcohol or simply prefer not to drink, there’s a proper drink waiting for you at The Carvery.
